Knowledge Sharing Reports

This section contains Knowledge Sharing Reports developed by the Extractives Baraza Team. These reports are based on the meetings and trainings that the Extractives Baraza has participated in.

On July 4th, 2017, the World Bank Group, within the framework of the Petroleum Business Opportunities (PBO) project, in partnership with Strathmore University Extractive Industry Center (SEIC), Extractives Baraza, and DAI Global, launched the “Kenya Local Content Exchange: Vision to Implementation,” a roundtable discussion addressing local content in Kenya’s emerging petroleum sector. The event was the first of a three-part series aimed at facilitating local content discussion amongst key public, private, and civil stakeholders in Kenya’s petroleum sector.

The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Sub-Saharan Africa Rule of Law Programme hosted a workshop in Windhoek, Namibia, on 20-21 January 2017 entitled: Rule of Law and Inclusive Development in Africa: Rhetoric, Contestations and Options for Access to Justice for Women. The conference was widely attended by representatives from Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa, among others.

WWF-SIGHT is an online mapping platform which integrates key development (e.g., extractives, infrastructure, agriculture and forestry) and environmental datasets. The tool enables a user to quickly generate maps of specific areas showing certain pre-selected features, for instance, administrative boundaries, ecological areas and oil and gas demarcated blocks.
The tool enables a researcher to generate visual maps which can be incorporated in reports and advocacy material which makes it easier for readers to understand the specific impacts and concepts being proposed.

The Kenya Petroleum Technical Assistance Project, a World Bank funded project through the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, organised a training on International Petroleum Business. The training is part of the project's series of trainings geared towards building the capacity of industry stakeholders to engage both on the technical and soft aspects of the oil and gas industry. The training was held in Sopa Lodge Naivasha from the 24th – 28th October 2016 and facilitated by The International Human Resources Development Corporation (IHRDC) .

The 3-day workshop was held at the Lukenya Getaway from the 8th to 10th of November 2016 and was organised by WWF Kenya in conjunction with the Kenya Oil and Gas Working Group (KOGWG). Strathmore University through the Strathmore Extractives Industry Center was invited to participate by KOGWG.
